On this page a few copyright issues are addressed, following problems of 'image theft' from other artists' sites.

Move to this page (2) where the "no right-click" Javascript option is tackled.

  Copyright Protection

This image has a copyright notice placed across the bottom using a 3D filter to create what I call "glass text".

There's no mistaking who owns the copyright to this drawing!

Thanks to Mark Garlick for planting the seeds of the idea in the first place.

The same image, but using a method to prevent copying by... well, can you work it out???

Try saving the picture as normal (using the right-mouse button)

Unfortunately, this never prevents the use of the image when the 'pirate' uses an absolute link, e.g. using "http://www.your-site.com/images/stealme.jpg" for example.

So, how about trying to save this image?

The animated text should be a BIG clue! Yes, it's actually a Flash graphic with the bitmapped image embedded.

The actual filesize has only increased by approximately 4KB, so is a very small overhead for the protection it offers.

As Mark Garlick also found out, those morons who use an "absolute link"...
(such as linking directly to a site image, like this "http://www.my-site/images/image.jpg")
... to place your images on their pages can cause absolute havoc with your statistics - giving you completely the wrong impression as to the number of visitors.

So the best method is probably to use a combination of the Flash graphic, and the "no right-click" code.

However, a far better solution has been proposed that should confound a much higher proportion of "image thieves" More on this soon!
