Pencil scenes

Only the one drawing so far, and it isn't entirely a pencil sketch. Instead this was mainly produced using water-soluble crayons, which were then dragged over with a wet brush to produce the smooth appearance.

This produces a very pleasing effect, so it might be the first of many...

Arizona

A study of light, shade and colour of the Arizona Desert. It originally had a sky, so the sketch was 10" x 8", but I cropped this off as I wasn't terribly happy with it.

In a way, this is (sort-of) mixed media as much of the colour work was using water soluble-crayons with a light, but selective wash to retain the deep colours. Certain enhancements were carried out with watercolour pencils. So is this pencil, crayon or watercolour art???
